I wonder how many billions of dollars have been poured into "cancer research" in recent decades? Has this "research" produced fewer cancer patients? I don't think so.
Also, who is in charge of all these cancer research grants? Several prominent organizations like the American Cancer Society, but mainly it's the alphabet health agencies that were dominated for four decades by Anthony Fauci.
My bottom-line is we're never going to get a "cure for cancer" as long as the corrupt scientists are in charge of providing said cure.
I don't think these data have ever been compiled accurately, mainly because of fiscal year/appropriation issues: you see, these 'research' funds are appropriated in year 1 (e.g., 1982), are available for application in year 2 (1983), are disbursed for, e.g., 3 years from year 3-5 (1984-86), after which a report is filed. This happens numerous times every year, and even if we're talking about merely 1-year projects (year 3 in our example), any accounting would be due in year 4, i.e., three (or more) years after the funds were appropriated in the first place. At that point, no-one cares about the reports or outcomes (same shit, different smell with reporting the spending of funds appropriated a year earlier; provided no too-obvious shenanigans or the like were made, no-one cares).
We'll also never get a 'cure' for cancer or these kinds of ailments because it's in no-one's interest: big gov't appropriates funds (see above), which is spent on 'research', public or private (which rakes the profits eventually), incl. all the downstream shenanigans, such as marketing, sales to willing doctors (if we're talking pharmaceuticals), dependent patients, with insurance corporations taking a big cut, too. Everyone wins, except for the patient, which is how the 'system' was designed.
Hence, we'll never change this system as long as this kind of pervasive corruption continues.
"What has changed, all other things being equal?" is something that seems to be science-heresy nowadays?
Exactly.
Science, as we understood it since the 17th century, is dying, if not dead already.

That's my take-away too. The last thing these people and organizations want to do is "cure cancer."
