But I'd argue you put your finger on my argument here: the reason why 'they' hate ('white') Euro-Americans so much is because, once upon a time, 'we' knew how to act to make 'them' move a bit towards 'our' positions.
And I'd argue that, at the risk of sounding overly simplistic, it is important to understand why 'they' hate 'us' with a vengeance: once explained in as simple terms as necessary (possible), I don't think that this isn't a message that could (would) resonate with many others, hence it might make people get off their backsides and start demanding accountability, thereby inducing 'change'.
