Ah, Italians. I rather doubt Mr. Lauterbach will face the fate of Mr. Speranza. Germans are too disciplined and obedient for that. Maybe some immigrants can rise to the occasion, though. (Not that calling those people names is actually enough: they belong in prison.)

Meanwhile Reiner Fuellmich is imprisoned!

(Find and watch the amazing interviews conducted by Reiner Fuellmich and decide truth for yourself.)

So is Mr. Assange; Ed Snowden is in exile. Says it all.

All these criminals work within protective structures set up from above because they are doing desirable work for the tip of the pyramid. Their protection will remain in place as an example for all other servants, but the tip of the pyramid would not hesitate to sacrifice them all if that is what is required to save themselves.

That is, of course, also true. I do wonder if those on top do not enjoy this kind of autodafé every now and then, you know, as far as the entire bread, circuses, and public execution things go: imagine such a thing would happen, the entirety of the political-media circus would instantly turn on, in this case Mr. Lauterbach, and proclaim, in truly Orwellian fashion, that they had always been suspicious, that they may have individually have had concerns but, for the greater good (of course), they held on to them, and that they would be elated not to have to carry that burden any longer.

Although I don't like the 'Hunger Games' (neither the books nor the movies), this is kinda what this looks like.

It increasingly looks like an evolving synthesis of the dystopian novels.

I appreciate and respect that you write these pieces in what must be at least your second language, EPIMETHEUS, but for future use, the saying works better as:

“When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”

^_^

(Might be nice if Lauterbach just got gone already.)

English is, in fact, my second language.

I thank you kindly for the advice, and I merely add that to me--it's utterly amazing, and not in a good way, that Lauterbach is still 'in office'.

I have thus elected to keep the posting as it is, even though I share the sentiment of him being gone (or, better still, never having gotten in office).

"I do admit that I am partially amazed at how this person is able to keep going..."

It is truly remarkable, and utterly lamentable :(

I think it speaks to his (pathological) abilities to separate poetry from fiction. He clearly falls in the category of psychopathy and, in addition, he is clearly delusional (at this point).

It is amazing how he keeps going, because many others experiencing--living--that kind and level of cognitive dissonance would have had several breakdowns by now.

Indeed, and he is very poorly regarded by rank-and-file practicing healthcare workers.

Sometimes I speculate that Lauterbach may have become Too Big To Fail ;) His stratospheric rise to prominence and public popularity while in opposition during the early pandemic followed by his elevation to Minister of Health has wedded him in the minds of the masses with the mainstream institutional pandemic response. To subsequently publicly defenestrate him would be akin to admitting gross professional misconduct and incompetence at the highest levels of government, (willingly aided and abetted by the mainstream media).

It is therefore in the interest of the German professional managerial class (to which I will include mainstream journalism) to perpetuate the “big lie”, in this case, the belief that our betters and their policies are presumptively competent and coherent. This lie sustains in many ways the societal consent to be ruled and that elected representatives, servants of the state, and captains of industry are deserving of our respect and cooperation.

The profound institutional failure underpinning the Financial Crisis, mass immigration into Europe, the Covid Panic, German deindustrialisation, and the war with Russia, has left too many traditional pillars of the establishment suffering a crisis of legitimacy. No wonder western governments are turning more authoritarian and clamping down on dissent. If the supposed checks and balances of the academy, of the media, of the judiciary have all failed to filter out a charlatan of Lauterbach’s caliber, then why should the professional managerial class be unquestioningly trusted?

Of course once collective trust is squandered, societal cohesion diminishes. America is perhaps already one step further along the road to perdition with their election of Donald Trump, a blatant reproach of the established elected order and a tacit admission the electorate no longer trusts it. It feels like yet another Emperor Has No Clothes moment and an indictment of not just Lauterbach’s incompetence but the entire political/academic/medical institutions which fostered and promoted his career.

Lauterbach’s cultivated facade might even be considered an archetype of the baby boomer German generation, educated, with engineering/medical/scientific proficiency. But, if he is really a conman, if Germany let itself be collectively conned by a monotonous hypochondriac pseudo-scientist, that what does Made in Germany even mean anymore?

Lauterbach being 'too big to fail' is perhaps the most apt description here. Also, it's 'Lauterbach', I'd add, i.e., the RKI, the PEI, 'the experts™', journalists, politicians--it's literally 'the blog', most of them. Essentially, many parts of our society would collapse overnight 'if we' prosecuted all of them.

I'd argue that it's impractical as well as without precedent (except for genocidal impulses); but the leaders should stand trial, no doubt.
