I do have this 'theory' that what transpired in Italy in the early 1990s (look for 'mani pulite') is actually the fore-front of political developments, with esp. the 'better-feeling' Northerners being the backward ones in terms of political systems that are waaaaaaay past their best before dates.
Layer upon layer upon layer… lots to peel back in most of our countries and yes going further back in time too.
