Good question.

According to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, it's actually higher than life expectancy:

"In 2016, life expectancy was approximately 84 years for women and 81 years for men."

Do people see the cruel circularity here?

If by that "thickening" you mean lies upon inconsistencies and inconherent statements clogging the drain, I agree.

I'm quite unsure about any official data (for gov'ts lie, it's their nature), but this here--I can't explain it otherwise.
