'We failed you': Denmark’s Ekstrabladet holds that 'media…have been almost hypnotically trusting of the government’s Covid narrative'—and admits failure
'We failed you': Denmark’s Ekstrabladet holds that 'media…have been almost hypnotically trusting of the government’s Covid narrative'—and admits failure
This editorial appeared on 7 Jan. 2022 in Denmark’s largest (by circulation) daily newspaper, and it was written by Brian Weichardt. Now let's see when politicians man up and admit mistakes, too
"Now let's see when politicians man up and admit mistakes, too" it would be better if they would just disappear from our view and from our life. It's their shame. We know what they did and what (artificial) monster crisis they created. How we get out of this and move forward would be much better to do it without them
This should be extended into a crowd project: collect, for countries all over the world, the first instances of MS media pieces going in that direction. For Germany, I bet on Springer (WELT), not on ZEIT, FAZ, Süddeutsche (but they might follow).
At least the vaccines are not super anymore. I am not familiar with anyone calling them super over here.
In here they just work, and you are not supposed to question them. I still remember the health minister shouting to a reporter in direct tv that the vaccines were not supposed to be questioned.
It is a step in the right direction. Still, it’s unforgivable that the question :died ‘with’ or ‘of’ corona was not put to the politicians by MSM two years ago. That question is hardly Watergate level journalism. However, better late than never I suppose.
The trust you refer to is due to our governements (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland) historically speaking having been very nationalist regardless of party colour. So to the regular voter it hasn't really mattered whether the ruling party is the socialist democrats or a neo-liberal unionist or a conservative famrer's union party - it all was different flavours of nationalism (or patriotism if you prefer). Not to the extent of "Blut & boden" perhaps and definitevely not with any degree of hate towards other races or nations.
However, since the fall of the Soviet Union and becoming provinces in the EU (Norway too for all intenst and purposes) nationalism has been replaced with cosmopolitanism or globalism as it's called today. Meaning that rather than putting their own people first, these nations' leaders puts their visions* first. Combined with very thorough americanisation of internal politico-cultural discourse most evident in sweden where politicians can't even answer a question about who is swedish and who isn't, it has left the nothern coutries completely helpless for anything even remotely wrapped in the sheep's clothing of politically correct semantics and semiotics.
Hence the ridiculous blind trust, despite evidence to the contrary. For the scandinavians there is nothing worse than disagreeing with authority, and their political system is one of 'demokratur'.
*As we know: "If one has visions, one should go to the doctor." Helmut Schmidt.
Dude, shit's getting serious! Really, looking forward to your next installment, und wie.
P.S. what are the chances of a #GENERALSTREIK in Austria?
When individual bodily autonomy is now subject to shoddy public health innitiatives and one is exlcluded from much of public/social life, then surely all that remains is to withdraw your labour? This is how capitalism works, no? The ultimate leverage.

I remembered wrongly. It was about the masks and the weak evidence of working.
