Thanks for this, Epimetheus. Perhaps another reason to overcome hesitations and get aquainted with Sezession (I also understand Eugyppius has been a contributor). However, an official English translation of the full speech is already available:

FULL TEXT - from Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's official homepage:

https://miniszterelnok.hu/en/speech-by-prime-minister-viktor-orban-at-the-33rd-balvanyos-summer-free-university-and-student-camp/

Also, Thomas Fazi substacked selected sections of Orbán's talk in a post end of July:

"The most important speech of the decade?" https://substack.com/inbox/post/147134670

Excellent--I haven't seen that one, and I'm grateful for you posting it as it's taken quite some time to do this posting!

Oh well, on the bright side, we/you don't have to wait on Sezession's next installments.

Somewhat surprising to find Orban's office had made a complete English translation available - but it is quite a significant speech and so there should be no excuse for Western press to not cover it. Am also reminded of how so few of journalists (let alone public) bother to ever read such texts. Try asking a consumer of legacy media if they have ever read a full speech by Trump, or Putin! And am I the only one who finds Putin and Orbán's speeches a cut above those of our Western leaders?

Well….having worked in the Austrian ministry of foreign affairs for a year, and having been at an Ivy League college plus ‘special expertise unit’ as visiting faculty, I could bore you with many ‘funny’ stories.

Problem is, though, that ‘our’ bureaucrats, politicos, etc. are really very ignorant. Most of them, at least.

Case in point: on one occasion, under so-called ‘Chatham House rules’ (don’t quote VIPs), I enquired about some particularities (visa-free travel from the W Balkans), and the former OeCD commissioner looked at his three (!) aides who came along to this informal ‘breakfast meet’n’greet’ (!!), and in the end his aides (sic) answered by reading from….Wikipedia.

Can’t beat ‘the Experts(tm)’.

He seems to have given the speech more than once:
