So, having watched the interview, here are a few of the main issues that ‘bother’ me:
Some ‘history’ lesson is always good, esp. as it totally derailed the US style legacy/mainstream media way of ‘doing’ journalism from the get-go
Remember, such ‘history’ is always a weapon, and Mr. Putin is a masterful player
As regards the historical content, well, I think what bothered me most isn’t what was said (and what wasn’t mentioned, e.g., the Soviet Gulags and massacres)—Mr. Putin showed how little Americans actually know about ‘Europe’ and its sorry histories
I’m not saying Mr. Carlson doesn’t know a lot (more than most of his legacy media peers), but at times he looked as if he was learning many new things at-one
What Mr. Putin did, by the way, wasn’t anything special or extraordinary—before WW2 literally every country’s leadership would speak like this; the fact that this has become ‘uncool’ after WW2 is more a function of US dominion and globalist control (via EU/NATO/think tanks) than, say, wilful blindness on part of Europeans
For a thought experiment on this issue, re-watch the interview and substitute ‘German’ or ‘French’ or ‘Polish’ every time Mr. Putin invokes ‘Russian’ history
Americans, of all people, should understand this, but for some strange reason or another, Mr. Carlson seemed a bit lost
EDIT: this also explains, I’d argue, why any non-American or non-Russian (or non-Chinese) who does the same is labelled a ‘right-winger’ by the US-dominated press with its ‘liberal-globalist’ bias
There’s no future for ‘Europe’ or ‘Europeans’ until ‘they’ (‘we’) re-discover our histories; there’s also no reason for Americans or Russians (or Chinese, for that matter) to respect any of the current crop of pretend ‘leaders’ who blabber about this or that and don’t know ‘their’ history (but keep in mind, this is a feature and not a bug)
I suspect ‘Europe’ might have a future if Germany and Russia would sign something like the Élysée Treaty to end enmity between Moscow and Berlin, incl. a joint re-appraisal of 20th-century history; it won’t happen unless the US ‘permits’ it, but I’m also skeptical if it could happen—as neither Mr. Putin nor any of the muppets in Germany wish to discuss this in a more honest way
That’s it—for now. With the weekend upon us, we’ll do some more postcards before too long, but please let me know about your impressions of the Carlson-Putin chat.
Oh, lest I forget—I think the title is apt, but who was the sorcerer and who performed the part of the apprentice—Mr. Putin or Mr. Carlson—is up to anyone’s guess.
I decided not to watch the interview. My video bucket list runneth over, and I consider the fact that the interview has taken place more important than the contents.
The Oliver Stone documentaries, Ukraine on Fire, should have been watched by Carlson prior to the interview. I think he feigned his none knowledge so that the questions he posed, very simple, were to get simple answers, nothing hard hitting. BBC News described Carlson as a far right conservative, sacked by Fox News. I just think it was more performance of actors on the world stage, Act 2?
