Great postcards!

Many people do not know that a B-25 hit the Empire State building in 1945 killing about a dozen people and wounding many. There are many videos and photos of the incident.

Cheers.

As to that incident, of course there's pictures etc. The building, built around 1930, survived, but then again, perhaps jet fuel did not burn as hot back then as it did on 9/11…

Everything pictured in the top postcard still exists, except for Pennsylvania Station (under “From”).

In the skyline of downtown at night, the second tall tower from the right, with the dark pyramid on top, is 40 Wall Street, one of the very few buildings in New York actually owned by Donald Trump. He may have to sell it to pay his court judgments.

Not too many years ago, I saw a B-17 flying over the Hudson River, only one though.

I remember waiting to fly out of JFK Int’l the evening before Sandy hit, now I’ll have to see if I still have a picture of the skyline in front of an ever-darkening sky…

Now, I'm humming "duh, duh, duddy duh, duh, duh, duddy duh" with Sinatra in my mind's eye! Happy Sunday!

They sure do, and I’ll turn these into a book (as well as, hopefully, into a fully accessible online library).
