The artful beauty reminds me of the images in colored children's books from France from my childhood in the 1950's. The Japanese and the French seem to harmonize. I presume that the Japanese traditions influenced the French whose sensitivities were "impressionable"
I think age is beautiful. And one of the reasons these places are so beautiful is because they’re so ancient. The people are from another time. Hard to believe it was only a hundred years ago.
Most of the places featured in this posting are known to me. Will be writing on these too, but right now I am diving deep into your views from Nikko and ins environs. Thanks for the wonderful material to work with. It is also nice to have an appreciative audience to show my photos to. Thanks for that as well.
I’m really loving Japan … thanks!!

I'm unsure about the French connection, but I'd assume strong 'Western' influences.
Modern, i.e., post-Meiji Japan was strongly influenced by Bismarck's Prussia.

And most of them no longer exist.
Oh, no! That’s terrible 😞
Thank you, Stephan and Kitsume, for the enjoyable guided tour. :)
Cheers!
