Same same.

Saddest thing: a year ago a student comes to my office and asks about vaccine passport/requirements as she wanted to go and study in Oz.

As one of the few ‘unvaxxed’ Norwegians, she was very concerned (to put it mildly), so we had a long conversation. She eventually was admitted and went to Oz, as far as I know.

My fear these days is that, once there, if the rules change can I get home?

Australia still thinks like the penal colony it was.

I wish that young lady luck and protection

That was her concern, esp. since Oz is literally halfway around the world from over here.

Right. And if you have no other resources/contacts outside of school, where would you hide?

Or get out of the country quickly in case it’s locked down again.

They let non-citizens leave the whole time - there were no issues with that because they cannot stop the movement of non-citizens out of the country. When the borders closed, million(s) of people left. It was really nice here. The roads were clear and I could enjoy the parks and monuments in peace.

They were only brutal to Australian citizens, then, unvaccinted Australian citizens. Our movement out and in the country was stopped. So flights out were full of non-citizens and they would return empty because of the closed borders even when Australians were stranded overseas.

Edit: do not worry my friends. Australia LOVES deporting people!

Go to your embassy or consulate.

I advised her likewise.

Plus make sure that emergency funds for getting out would be available, too.

She will be fine. As a non-citizen she has the right to leave Australia. They are only concerned with people in the country and inbound. If things go bad, just get on a plane and get out. The Australian government will not stop her. In fact, they will encourage her to get out.

WOW!!!

The top photo is 'Armadale' and there are two suburbs called that in Australia - one in Victoria and one in WA.

Mustering scene still looks like that although many people tend to use quadbikes and motorbikes now (still many prefer horses). That photo looks Queensland through and through.

Also you spelled 'Australia' wrong in the title :)

These are really phenomenal, thank you. People will love to see them when I re-post.

I’m happy you like them!

Thanks for pointing out the typos: I shouldn’t post before coffee.
