P.S.: it could be an artefact of Ukrainian refugees, as few wish to to leave now. Time will tell.

It’s a reasonable hypothesis. If we paint with a broad brush, you could say that there are about 1 million women of fertile age in Norway. These give birth to ~51500 babies a year.

We’ve already received 70000 ukrainian refugees. These are mostly women and children for obvious reasons. Let’s say half of them are mothers of a fertile age. That these hypothesized 35000 women should give birth to an extra 500 babies annually is totally reasonable (Even a bit on the low side maybe).

Not just 'reasonable', NRK also confirmed it: refugees from Ukraine plus 'free' kindergarten:

So, more gaslighting from the IPH (which I found hardly surprising).

As far as official data is concerned, there are 69,000 refugees in Norway:

I’ll have to check their geographical distribution, but knowing that Northern Norway is emptying, I can imagine that the gov’t would re-settle regugees there, too.

More refugees in the north?

Now confirmed: refugees plus 'free' kindergarten 'reversed the trend in the North', according to NRK (I'll take this apart later today in a separate posting):

So, more a population shift rather than an increase?

Looks like ‘correlation’ to me, plus a lot of official-media gaslighting. I’ll post later today, then you can judge it.

I’ll have to check it, but Ukrainians are now the second-largest immigrant group—I’ll get back to you on that one.
