I'm honestly unsure about this, tell you the truth, who knows what we'll learn?
(As an aside, the more documents from 'back then' I go through, the more surprises about the collector, my grandfather, I'm learning. It'll take some more time to process this.)
History is history. It happened. As the world tries to erase the ugly out of the history books, I continue to remind of the lessons contained therein. Who we are is because of these lessons-if we choose to learn
You know, it’s like with the Covid thing all over: I go where the evidence leads me to, irrespective of the exact place.
Yes, I’m a bit more invested than I’d otherwise would be due to my book project, which will eventually come out of the postcard collection. That book must have some pages (a chapter) about the collector. I’ll make sure what I write is accurate and based on information that I can rely on/trust. So far, it’s been a quite wild journey down a few rabbit holes in close succession.

Accurate history is extremely important. It does not matter if we 'like' it or not. You are doing important work.
If you find something horrible that is too much to bear, give it to a trusted friend who can publish it on your behalf.

Is Deutsch Krone a natural lake or from the mining like in E. Germany? Probably natural as it is already full in 1944!
Great photos, as always!
I dunno, having never been, all I could do is point you to online information.
That area has lots of natural lakes, though.
