Norway's glacier archaeologists had a tremendously successful summer 2024, and they continue to find more evidence of regular human use of high elevations until the Little Ice Age
Thanks for this as it’s quite interesting. I just realised how much of my Substack feed is doom and gloom. This was a nice change. I often wonder the kinds of lives our ancestors lived. Despite their hardships I doubt they were as depressed as our current civilisation.
Well, the future is unknown, even though there's plenty of stuff that'll drag even the most optimistic chap down.
I do try to have some variation here and there, esp. as my mission--expose media bias and offer interesting stories that would otherwise get drowned out by whatever current event.
In this case, the piece fits my criticism of the climate doom narrative that's peddled ad nauseam, and we'll have to see if Mr. Trump's defunding of the IPCC will change this or that. (For the record, I'd rather err on the safe side, but the findings of the archaeologists are proof-positive of warmer times in the past absent either high CO2 levels [although that reconstruction is rife with data splice and data monkeying, I'd add] or massive burning of fossil fuels, which drives a stake into the heart of that undying climate change vampire.)
As an aside, I'll note that these findings cannot be ignored much longer; a lot of these things, esp. the research by Dr. Andrea Fischer on ice-free Alps 3,350 years ago, was published in Science or Nature, hence it's impossible to kinda ignore it.
As a final aside, let's note that I watched the UFO/UAP 'disclosure' flick by Stephen Greer the other day: the first 40 or so minutes is him going all-in on the climate doom, which he uses as 'argument' to 'uncover' all the allegedly hidden science (by Tesla et al.). I was sceptical of the UFO/UAP crowd from the get-go, but this 'documentary' looks like proof-positive of an impending narrative shift on climate change, environmental doom, and UFO/UAP.
Interesting about the UFO thing. I think after Covid it’s getting harder to sustain these narratives. Especially with the amount of hypocrisy around the climate crap (especially how they’re trying to tie it to refugees, etc. )They will have to pivot to something else. Little green men, chemtrails, famines, etc. It’s really hard to know. Although the amount of articles I keep seeing on ‘Civil War’ (especially as it relates to U.K./Ireland) is worrying. As I’m on the ground here I can see conditions are ripe. Since we’re islands our ‘diversity’ problems are particularly acute. It won’t take much to set things off.
I do think that neither the 'invisible' enemy (Sars-Cov-2) nor a 'real' war (against Russia) will result in repeat levels of compliance, hence the UFO/UAP angle--because, I surmise, this might induce comparable levels of compliance.
Well, Alpine skiing isn't exactly 'good' for the environment either…I'm somewhat torn on this one as mass tourism in remote locations brings with it big problems, too, but it's also consistent with the archaeological record of human land-use 'up there'.
And then there's the whole notion of 'taking a break' mid-day: I recall (c. 1990) basic sheds offering 1-2 soups and 1-2 other simple warm dishes; now, people go there expecting top-chef meals and fancy service while, upon getting back to their 4 or more star hotels (incl. spa, saunas, indoor pools, etc.), more of these fancy things. Plus there's now heated lifts, WIFI for influencers, etc. I'm not against any of these things on principle, but the human impacts have multiplied by leaps and bounds, esp. if you consider that most skiing destinations now feature an infrastructure that's basically used for less than a handful of months and needs to be maintained for the rest of the year…
Too bad that these things continue to pop up, isn't it?
Also, while I'm happy you like the piece, I cannot take credit for it--it was reported by that feller (forgot his name) on Business Insider; I'm merely the messenger here.
You know, I share the department with archaeologists, and they are among those who venture up the mountains in summer. In private, I'm told that most don't believe in the climate doom narrative, mainly because of all the evidence they are seeing. They go along with it because if you don't pay fealty to the Death Cult of St Gretha, there's no way any of their grant applications will get funded by the national science foundations (which is run by political appointees--who would've have guessed that…)

Well whether it’s the government or the aliens we’re all getting anally probed regardless.
Well, that's certainly their intent.
My intent is to not comply, and I may humbly submit this course of action for your consideration, too?!
I signed up to non-compliance years ago. It’s trying to convince the rest of the populace of malign intent.
As a history enjoyer, these articles really hit the spot - thank you. Horse snowshoes wow. I learned something new!
Cheers, mate! I also didn't know about them, and I encourage you to click on the original article--there's more images!
Climate change or no, it is still bad for Alpine skiing.

Herr Epimetheus
The artifacts modern narratives say should not be there!
Great article
