Which is not me defending russian war crimes; I'm neither in the habit of defending such nor am I naïf enoguh to believe war can be fought according to rules on paper. Or as someone put it (I don't remember who originated the phrase): "Der Sieg vergibt alles".
It means "victory", doesn't it? That's a word that would be very difficult to get rid of, and changing words o the meaning of a word never changes the thing it is about anyway, so doing so is just makes things worse.
And victory is seeing your goals fulfilled, the enemy destroyed, and you all the better for it. It is, no matter what we feel, as Djingis Khan is said to have put it:
“The greatest happiness is to vanquish your enemies, to chase them before you, to rob them of their wealth, to see those dear to them bathed in tears, to clasp to your bosom their wives and daughters.”
Because that means that you are alive and they are not, that you will prosper wherethey wither, and that you are stronger; all essential core parts of our basic mammalian brain's make-up.
Therefore, "Victory fogives all" is (in my view) simply a sad statement of facts; not a normative or moral principle.
They are speaking for those people who are being hit by the bombs. It's easy for them to talk about victory when they don't have to lose everything to reach it.
why the germans are so susceptible for this. i know, generalisations are not 100% right, but i am foreigner living in germany and it is so ridiculous. i've been in a couple of countries during the corona bs and even if the covid regulations were everywhere, only in germany the normal people were so eager to self impose them and really, to vilify whoever has some other opinion.
with the ukraine crisis it's exactly the same. it's beyond obvious that, for example, critical german infrastructure was destroyed by their apparent ally, but the normal germans still have putin in their nightmares. wtf. those people are just so ridiculously gullible. when manipulated they flip like magnetic filings in a field of propaganda.
i did not forget the question marks in the above. it's not a question. i do not think there is an answer to that.
Oh my god. This is so Third Reich. Reminds me of those unbelievably Jew caricatures.
"Der Ewige Russe" is the new Thing.

I will never understand how people consider the term "Sieg" appropriate when hundred thousands are dead.

But they are talking about another's victory.
They are speaking for those people who are being hit by the bombs. It's easy for them to talk about victory when they don't have to lose everything to reach it.
It's endlessly ignorant.
Forgot a word there. I meant to say "unbelievably witty"
Ha, ha, nice post!!
So we could rewrite the "The Buggles - Video Killed The Radio Star" lyrics...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8r-tXRLazs
"...They took the credit for your second identity
Rewritten by machine on new technology
And now I understand the problems you can see...
... We can't rewind, we've gone too far
Big Data came and broke your heart
Put the blame on 5G..."
Ha, ha, ha!
Or if u like the Rem "...This is the end of the world as we knew it..."
Oh, well, I'm trying to keep (some) receipts here.
For future reference, as 'the archive' is our revenge.
