I will never ever make fun of people who centuries ago bought plenary indulgences.

Clearly, that level of stupidity and hypocrisy is the natural state for Homo Sapiens.

In other news, a stone with a whole through it protects against bad magic.

Please don't--I'm teaching the lives of 'these peoples' in my daytime job.

It's not so much stupidity and hypocrisy, I'd argue, for people were (are) easily manipulated by things that cannot (wouldn't) be understood easily. Most individuals, I'd say, aren't incapable of doing so, but--esp. in past centuries--most people will be more concerned with, well, survival rather than (natural-) philosophical musings about the order of things.

Hence, the easy way out: make-believe, in witches and trolls ('The Science'), talismans (masks come to mind), magic potions (injections), and the like.

Humans didn't really change that much, agreed, but somewhere 'in-between' science (not to be confused with 'The Science'), empiricism (trial and error, and tell others about it), rational thought and the Enlightenment came across, coupled with socio-political changes (the sovereign individual, popular sovereignty, etc.), whic eventually gave rise to bourgeois society. Like it or not, it appears to be, basically, more and more powerful 'technology', not our socio-cognitive abilities that have changed.

So, indugence peddling this is. I like the thought you brought up, thanks for sharing.

To clarify: it's the very notion that the sacred and spiritual is something that can be bought or sold as sausages that riles me, and I'm not even religious in the Abrahamitic sense or tradition. It befouls any sacrament, any faith and also both those preaching the word as well as the believers.

I cannot for the life of me see neither Christ nor Mohammed or David standing on the streetcorner going "Get out of Sheol-cards he-re! Getcha get out of Sheol cards he-re! Only thirty ases!"

If it were other faiths, say Jupiter Optimus or Amon or even Svantevit, then I understand as for the non-Abrahamic faiths there was no disjunction between someone offering to buld a new temple and the Pontifex Maximus ordering the carnifex to give me good reading and a blessing.

"To thine own self be true" or something like that, I guess.

meanwhile in the US, pfizer postpones application for vaxxing 6 months old, before having the final trial results (whatever they can get in couple of months that is). mr. marks from FDA actually says "it makes sense for us to wait for the trial data before we approve the vaxx for 6 months old babies" ... you THINK ??? i would have never believed i can hear such a thing on tv ... people are becoming numb ... they dont think anymore and being pushed around like cattle to the slaughter ... listen for yourself and make up your mind - minute 4:48 - it is just a couple of minutes - someone is in rush to stick this so-called vaxx whatever that contains into as many as possible. minute 4:48 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOUAD5xL8pI

Sanity re-emerges, perhaps?

I'll take a look at the video before posting anything else.

That was probably addressed to their huge sex industry that Thailand is known for. Very caring indeed.

I am shocked, shocked that people have sex on other days of the year.

To add to this: imagine that they may do so without masks.

Bruahahahaa.

Better wear masks than condoms 😆😉. It‘s safer to do so.

Haha, I thought so, too, but perhaps masks also prevent STDs, who knows.

Masks prevent death in every form. Period.

That, I'd wager, might depend how one wears them. Bruahahaha.

Maybe, I do think that handing out condoms or the like might actually be a better path, public health policy-wise, but then again, what do I know about that /sarcasm

Since they are masked, what if they make whoopi with the wrong people?!

Masks cover the face.

They could be using hand gestures.

Especially in the dark....

Or, perhaps, these masks are intended to cover 'other' body parts? Who knows.

Well, I do have kids, and diapers are useful (neither of my kids uses them anymore), so…it's more of an assumption by association, I guess.
