Footnote 16 (personal): I 'tested' positive for Covid-19 earlier today
Spoiler alert: I'm fine, but this madness must stop before too long
This is to inform you about my ‘dreadful misfortune’ masquerading as a positive Antigen Rapid Test for Covid-19. Behold:
So, what has happened?
On Friday, my elder daughter (2nd grade) was sent home early from school. Truth be told, she told us she felt ‘tired’ in the morning before leaving, but—let’s face it—if I acceded to all, or any, really, of these statements, she’d never leave home.
So, she was fine when we parted company, but we picked her up a couple of hours later anyways. Since we also received two text messages from her school, we ‘tested’ her for Covid with one of these rapid tests, but that one was ‘negative’.
On Saturday, she spent most of the day on the couch, resting and/or sleeping. Yes, she didn’t sleep very well the night before; yes, she was rather grumpy all day, but apart from a little elevated body temperature (perhaps some 37.5-38 degrees centigrade) and some complaints about a headache, she was o.k.
On Sunday, she was basically back to ‘normal’: she ate well, didn’t complain about anything, etc. Also, she was literally back to jumping on the couch (which we don’t like her or her sister to do, by the way).
Still, since we’re supposed to test her with one of those rapid test before school re-commenced on Monday, we did that, I ‘volunteered’ to test myself as well (she didn’t want to get ‘tested’), and while her test result was somewhat ambiguous, mine was as well.
I never tested ‘positive’ for Sars-Cov-2 or -Covid-19-the-disease in almost two years now. I didn’t even have a bloody cold, ‘even though’ I virtually never wear a face diaper or the like. Sure, I don’t take public transport (I bike to work) and I don’t necessarily take elevated risks by, say, going clubbing or the like (seriously, I have young children, what did you expect?), but one cannot let ‘Covid-19-the-social-construct’ dominate every aspect of one’s life.
Well, long story short, earlier today I ‘tested’ positive for Covid-19.
If you must know, I didn’t sleep very well last night, woke up repeatedly, and felt super exhausted in the morning. Still, I got up at my usual time (5:20 a.m., if you must know), but I didn’t feel too great.
So, I treated myself to 1 Aspirin, 2 cups of (black) coffee, and 1 mug of ginger tea with Vitamin D supplement.
Sidenote #1: in case you’re wondering, yes, I regularly have 1 cup of coffee and 1 mug of ginger tea with Vitamin D supplement every day—I live at 60 degrees North, hence, if you don’t fortify your immune system regularly, you’re an idiot.
Back to my ‘case’.
I felt quite o.k. after my ‘treatment’, told my spouse, and we decided to let the girls sleep in today (since they’re in this 7+ day quarantine with me together).
A little after 9 a.m., we departed for a nearby Covid-19 Test Centre, but we spent 3.5 hours waiting to get ‘tested’. Now, I fully expect to obtain a ‘recovered certificate’, which I will then put up on my office wall to ensure no-one is going to bother me about this crap.
By the way, my ‘symptoms’ so far include:
A slightly ‘fog-ish’ head, i.e., I have a very mild form of a headache (this certainly doesn’t qualify as a ‘brain fog’).
A slightly sore throat, but no cough or the like.
My nose is neither congested nor runny (which is a quite ‘weird’ feeling, by the way).
And mildly aching joints.
In short: it’s a nuisance so far, and while I don’t take this lightly, this doesn’t appear to be the worst disease ever. Be that as it may, I shall keep you posted.
Sidenote #2: the most absurd part of this experience so far is that no physician ever diagnosed anything. It is certainly troubling that this entire ‘pandemic’ rests on questionable—and ever-changing—definitions of key terms and concepts, but it is equally outlandish that people who ‘test’ (whatever) never see a doctor. All that happens is someone shoves a swab up your nostril and sends you on your merry ways.
Once this entire charade ends, we all need to sit down and have an ‘adult conversation’ about this.
Also, ‘regular’ posting will resume tomorrow.
Hope you get better soon and that this will be the worst of it. With no relapsing.
Spot on about how no physician diagnoses anything now. From the start of this farce my friends and I have been saying that doctors and nurses are making themselves into prime candidates to be replaced by AI/robots. To be honest I wouldn't miss the human ones I think as too often they have been acting like robots without the excuse of being made of metal and plastic. If you aren't going to use your brain or your heart to think and to feel then why shouldn't you be replaced by a machine? At least the machine won't be arrogant to boot!
Our daughter and her husband got sick and then tested + for “COVID.” They’re both double-jabbed. My wife told her “At least now you have natural immunity.” She replied, “I thought that was why we got vaccinated.” “Well, you were lied to.” Didn’t make her feel too good. The mass testing has to end. Now their oldest can’t return to school for a week. Which, I guess doesn’t matter because they closed the school down because of “cases.”
Edit to add: We used to say “They both got some bug,” and nobody gave it another thought. Now everyone is conditioned to fret and stew about getting “sick.”
