It is quite amazing, this ability of theirs to not only get everything about how a respiratory virus spreads wrong, but also to adopt the measures least likely to actually help. Maybe they have started to think that bureaucracy makes the world real? Sort of like how a priest or wizard by using the right phrases, gestures and words can quiet the storm or excise an inflamed appendix.

And the journos you quote aren't really the sharpest knives in the drawer either: "...only 46%..." Really? In what reality is 46% of anything "only"? I feel like yelling "It's almost half you klabbsock*!" Not to mention the silly bit about different kind of jobs making you more or less exposed. Yeah, that's true for health care and hospital staff, absolutely, but the journo seems to miss one key factor: such people are generally very good with hygiene before coming into work, on the job and before going home.

As compared to people who work at schools and kindergartens who basically just put their overcoat on when leaving. They don't seem to realise that if these measures worked, that whole positive effect for say an office worker following restrictions at the office is nulled by his kids going to school, breathing the same air as hundreds of others, and then coming home.

It's contagious studpidity, lemming syndrome or something (yah I know real lemmings don't behave like in that old Disney movie where they actually panicked the lemmings off camera and ran them over a cliff...).I know panic and stress lowers cognitive function - but this much, for so long? A continous elevated level of adrenaline and cortisol is really bad for the psyche and the effect becomes permanent after a while, leading to life-long decreased mental endurance, cognition, and - also lifelong - PTSD (or shell shock as it used to be called).

If this goes on for a year or two more, we will have created a pan-european generation growing up in perpetual high-stress fear, making them susceptible to obeying the word of any authority ofering a way to turn fear into aggression and then destroy the source of the fear.

Sounds familiar?

(Edited for spelling)* Klabbsock is a scanian word for someone who is not only stupid as in unintelligent but also conceited and clumsy to the point of being completely useless: a person who'd even fail at p*ssing themselves.

The last paragraph sounds like the plot of 'V for Vendetta', perhaps a wonderful example of predictive programming.

I doubt that these people are in the 'reality-based community' any longer, hence the cognitive dissonance will get worse (before it may or may not get better), I think.

Brilliant statement. I feel like you, I think that a lot of people have been struck by some kind of PTSD. And countries like Austria and Germany keep on traumatizing and retraumatizing folks.

I live in Vienna, where the rules are still stricter than in the rest of Austria and where masks are ubiquitous due to FFP2 mandates in public transport. In this city you can feel the tense and negative energy, it‘s hard to breathe (haha, pun intended 🤣) and hard to see joyful faces. The smiling ones seem to be tourists or refugees from Ukraine (ironic, isn’t it?) who don’t get the rules anymore. THEY don’t care about mask mandates in public transport, Viennese hide under their „coffee filters“. Empty eyes at best. Fearful eyes at worst.

As soon as you leave the city the whole energy changes completely. Friendly, open, smiling people who don‘t care about the whole thing anymore. You hardly see masked faces. Therefore I am 100 % sure that those masks change our perception of others and our autonomous nervous system. Physical effects aside. For me personally, mask mandates are assault - both physically and psychologically. I nearly despise persons who argument that masks do absolutely no harm. People like me shouldn’t be so dramatic.

Masks keep the pandemic going - at least mentally. That‘s my personal truth.

This is so absurd, and from my perspective, it's even worse than it looks: masks don't work (we've known this, until The Science (tm) changed his mind), on top of the idiotic notion that the virions are coated in a fatty (oily) substance, which neither the face diapers nor the ffp2 masks are designed to hold off.

I would argu, though, that there's a certain limit to the usefulness of virtue-signalling alone, which, although not yet reached, will probably com to the fore later this year.

I also agree on th assault notion.

Thank you - what sets my neck-hairs all a-tingling is the historical parallel, which becomes more unavoidable the more they double-down. Sure, as both a real-world warning signal and as a dramatic trope, it is even more worn out than the Trojan Horse, but still.

A symbol of loyalty and compliance to be worn in public at all times.

A selected group of targets picked as scapegoats and threats, said groups rather arbitrarily defined and unable to mount any physical resistance.

Public manifestations and repeated calls for "compliance equals loyalty equals being on the side of right and good".

And on top of that it is a total regime, where every aspect of life is a function and an extension of the State, where all parties both political and in the other sense speaks with one voice and one voice alone.

Add to that the notion of unfallible Leaders backed by The Science, and well, it would be rather disingenious not to state the parallel, despite it a) being overused and virtually devoid of real meaning nowadays, and b) it's history, over and done with, and with no burden of guilt on anyone alive today.

Perhaps the over-reactions is a kind of cultural trauma which needs to be acted out ike this befor it can be put to rest for good?

Good question. I also had thoughts in this direction, we are collectively deeply traumatized and nobody MUST NEVER speak of that time again. No reappraisal allowed - only guilt. Therefore it is strictly forbidden to point out any similarities to past times. If you do that - and believe me, the „Corona deniers and nazis“ (hence: critical people) have done that several times - you will be cancelled or - worse - reported due to „Verharmlosung des Holocaust“ (downplaying of Holocaust). That‘s a criminal act in Austria.

It‘s so crazy to see what suppressed trauma can do to a whole nation. Fun anectode regarding this matter: Some Jewish students held their „annual association meeting“ in a Café in Vienna. After they had arrived a known right-wing „celebrity“ was seated at a table directly next to them. The students then mandated the owner of the Café to kick this person out - which he refused with the words (no exact quotation) „You are at least as bad as them if you ask for such a thing.“ The students then became so mad that they ranted about that on Twitter and tried to cancel/smudge the owner.

You see. There is good fascism and there is bad fascism. All due to suppressed trauma and delusion.

Dear epimetheus, have you already seen that? It seems that Austria could face the same destiny as Canada, Australia and New Zealand. https://tkp.at/2022/06/09/gesetzesaenderung-bedroht-versammlungsfreiheit-und-bringt-noch-mehr-macht-fuer-gesundheitsminister/

I've seen commentary in the news media, esp. the (pseudo) agitation by the SPÖ, but the mechanism of action--claim extenuating and/or extraordinary circumstances and go for x post-'legalisation' is the way to erect (foster) tyranny since time immemorial.

Thes changes would be discussd in one of the next posts, but the fact of the matter remains: if the Health Minister is enabled, via the Injection Mandate, to violate the most intimate facets of human existence--bodily integrity--and do so at his or her discretion, no less, than everything else is certainly up for grabs, if not outright ephemeral.

The basic liberties hark back to 1867, and they were literally verbatim inscribed in Austria's 1920 constitution, which, with tons of modifications, is still the bedrock of the republic. Alas, the era of civil liberties guaranteed by mutually accepted norms is certainly all but over.

EDIT: just wait until the Health Minister--in whose competence (sic) also fall 'social' policies--is the one government official to 'stave off' the dreadful consequences of 'inflation'.

Jepp, I have totally forgotten that HE is also our „social“ minister. I was shocked when I read that… Well, first thing he will install to help us through the second crisis - climate - will be a carbondioxide tax 🤣. And I have also read that the NGO „Global 2000“ will file a lawsuit at the Supreme Court as they want to ban all fossile means of energy from Austria by 2040 latest. Ok, this is not the minister‘s fault, I have to admit 😁. But it‘s the same state of mind.

Happy times ahead in Covidistan. 🥳

Oh my, that is so true. One thing is quite certain, though, Mr. Rauch will bring his 'expertise' to bear in the field of 'social policy', too, which means: be afraid, I suppose.

Expand full comment

And on it goes, the wheel of insanity. As „cases“ in Covidistan are on the rise, the propaganda media is already screaming for stricter mandates again. Masks in public transport at least. I am not sure if we will ever be able to stop that wheel again.

After reading the Substacks of Igor Chudov and other brilliant people who have an eye on the current situation in extremely high vaxxed Zero Covid countries I only see two ways:

1) Doubling down on unvaxxed. Vaxx mandates everywhere in Western countries in order to exterminate the control group. More masks and lockdowns.

2) Declare the „pandemic“ as ended and the virus as harmless - worldwide. Officially. Politicians and Propagandists included.

I hope for the second scenario but I don’t see it coming. In no way. Ever.

BUT: Although I am nearly 100 % sure that certain … people… will never let go of the whole hygiene-nanny-state project, reality will struck hard and people will lose interest. As they will have to find ways to pay their bills in the very near future. THIS will be a real threat, price explosions are beginning to exponentially hit everywhere and our regime does not care or does not know how to deal with real problems.

They WILL try to re-install Covid mandates in autumn, but people will not care anymore and/or walk on the streets. Hopefully.

I'm unsure how the doubling down on the unclean could be sold: clearly, now every jabbed person must understand that the injections are, at best, useless.

I do think that some 15-20% are hardcore cultists, i.e., they will never let go of this biotyranny, come what may.

As to autumn, I suspect that, in the absence of high-casualty events associated with Sars-Cov-2, most people don't bother to follow these mandates. Injection uptake--esp. a mandated 4th or 5th jab--will further crater, which will, in combination with the Covid Passports, crash the economy (if that doesn't happen earlier due to high energy prices, food shortages, or the 'banlieuisation'--i.e., riots in the quarters inhabited by sizable non-native immigrant communities--of previously comparatively nice and safe cities).

Expand full comment

I really don’t know either - but I am quite sure that the regime will surprise us incarcerated with some nice presents in autumn. And I am also quite sure that people will follow along again. Maybe not regarding injections but totally regarding masks and quarantine and school closings etc. We Austrians have been conditioned for several years. One huge corruption revelation after the other - but the responsible politicians stay in their positions. Absolutely no consequences. So we have learned the following: We have to do what they say as we cannot change anything.

Expand full comment

If I'd have to speculate--I'd go for '(some) freedom of movement in exchange for injections', if only to make the point of not having to admit failure.

I'd argue this is in the process of being set-up as we speak, albeit via the 'inflation hits hard, here's some handouts'.

The reason for this is straightforward: the Austrian state is simply incapable--for lack of (reliable) security services, due to, in no small parts, more than a generation of austerity (most laughably), hence the only--and perhaps also the cheaper-by-default--course of action is: bribery, or handouts.

A couple of months ago, the injectors in Puerto Rico, where I live, started handing out fifth doses. A fifth dose hasn't yet been officially approved.

I recall a glowing portrait of one pediatrician in, or around, mid-September 2021 who injected kids with the BioNTech/Pfizer crap. Of course he was doing this 'off-label' and the like, as this was well before these products received an EUA for kids aged 5-11.

It's beyond belief, but then again, there's a neat 'trick' to absolve oneself from any responsibility: these doctors will tell you that the decision rests with the parent (who thus, in my opinion, fails to fulfill his and/or her ONE role as not doing harm to the children he/she is responsible for).

It makes one wonder how these people rationalise this; I think it works like this:

Physicians who offer these products claim that the responsibility rests with the family while amily members rely on doctor's advice and 'expert opinions' (and are constantly barraged by legacy media)--result: both shift responsibility onto the other.

Politicians, 'the experts', and media get off scot-free.

I suspect the end game will be a couple of revoked licences for physicians who offered these products while the rest will absolve themselves.

Here is a gem: So, four injections don’t prevent infection or transmission, and after three injections, there’s almost no serious cases left. Pray tell, Mr. Zeitlinger, why take a fourth jab?

Hahahaha!

When they use the letters COVID in regards to serious illness is it the jab or the virus?

Does the injection prevent or cause serious illness? Actually, the right question of the government marketing division for the injection corporations is; how many people have died by injection? Force an answer, make them lie for the record.

I didn't make it up, you know, it's these people who are simply too incoherent. I would say, though, that they are devout believers in the injections, hence there's no way they will change (that is, until the take the umpteenth shot and die shortly thereafter).

Yes, I think so, Those injected will die a screaming death (without morphine which will be too expensive as deemed by these many fascist controlled insurance companies).
