Sigh.

It's all so sad, predictably so, and I'm sure these people will learn nothing.

Of course they will learn nothing. They don’t want to learn anything.

Look at it from their perspective. They know that they are smarter than anyone else. They also know that they are more compassionate than anyone else. And because they know that they are smarter and more compassionate than everyone else, they know that their policies are correct and morally superior to policies proposed by their opponents. And because their opponents don’t agree with them, they are evil.

It must be so, because they are smarter and more compassionate than everyone else.

I’ve simplified it a bit, but many leftist politicians and officials seem to have that mindset.

So much “self esteem”, so few actual accomplishments……

I'll be posting something else on this issue later this week--legacy media is quite full of 'fond memories' of the 'first lockdown' right now.

Progressives never learn from their programs they implement. Like to spend money grow government and bureaucracies.

No such thing as continuous improvement or learning from mistakes.

Our progressives in Canada show the same behavior and virtue signaling.

Same shit, different smell, it seems.

The one thing that grows the fastest, though, is: wilful blindness/forgetfulness.

Drugs are cheaper and more profitable than counseling or purposefully restructuring society towards a model which rewards desired (meaning: conducive to good mental health) behaviours.

Therefore, the current trend will continue, as those who profit from the many reasons behind this epidemic of mental ill-health are also the ones with the power to change it.

But that would mean less profit, and since they can buy their children a lifestyle that protects them - why would they ever change anything, under the current capitalist system?

You're correct about the profit motive, but not about this 'system' being 'capitalist' in the Smithian sense of the term.

What we have is an oligopoly with a few huge corporations forming a cartel. Big Business wouldn't exist without Big Gov't, hence we live in a kind of 'age of giants' (trampling on us ants).

It looks like the radical left has learned a lot from the 1930’s fascists….

Big government and big corporations working together for a brighter future/sarc

Exactly. Don't forget 'Big Labour' (or what's left of it, anyways), which is in on these shenanigans with their former 'adversaries'.

Wow, You’re absolutely right. I entirely forgot about the unions..

More shades of 1930’s fascism. The ‘public-private partnerships’ between the National Socialists and the big corporations essentially made the unions completely irrelevant.

The corporations supported the (national) socialist government and that was the end of their labor problems.

Now it’s on a much larger scale. The globalist international socialists are working with leftist billionaires, leftist NGO’s and ideologically captured multinational corporations to “transform” western civilization…….into what, exactly?

Except for spouting vague and insipid platitudes about diversity, equity, anti-racism, etc they never seem to answer that question.

I guess I have not paid enough attention because shut downs for the decaying corrupt and degenerate inner city "hood" social conditions in major U.S. cities is just another blip in hell.

Where it's more obvious is in the behavior of (auto) drivers on suburban urban metro area higheays. Urban higheays leave no room for mentally ill illegal racetrack driving. I have never seen so much criminal and suicidal behavior in my life as I must cope with on the road every day. Law enforcement can't touch it. Maybe this was "paving" the way for driverless cars but that would be quite a conspiracy.

The effects of the cost of living/inflation stressors on the heels of Covid lockdowns has driven already obese, (all kinds of) drug addicted and incredibly badly educated Americans to the brink and beyond. Those who are coping keep their minds in fantasy mode. We are ready to move into the local zoos with the four legged wild animals.

In reality this screwing of the minds of average, not globally empowered people of the global north did not begin with Covid. The global financial market games of the past 50 years is the mindf*k pandemic, and just like a virus, it travels globally, to the global south as well. So they become the migrants.

What will the future hold? How much worse can this prison get?
