They have also dialled back the mandate rhetoric in Germany. Could the announcement of a new variant be a recall? My wildly hopeful idea: vaccine is ineffective against new dominant strand. But in actual fact its governments sneaky way of stopping the vaccine program.

Hi Ryk, I'm unsure--the "nu variant" is too recent to know anything for sure, but the fear campaign has reached another sad highpoint with it. Media in Austria has reported chaotic scenes at the airport as new arrivals were "quarantined" in an empty terminal at Vienna airport for hours on end without any ground staff or anyone else around.

As to the "off-ramp" scenario, I honestly don't see this. Media in all German-language areas is still overflowing with "vaccination is the only thing that will end the pandemic" pieces; that said, as regards Germany, I think it has more to do with the formation of the new gov't (on which I'll weigh in shortly): for the first time since before the Weimar Republic, this will be a gov't that includes three parties (Merkel's CDU/CSU alliance in coalitation with anothr party doesn't count as "three" factions).

In Switzerland, the people voted with a resounding "yes" (62%) to the gov'ts draconian Covid legislation.

And in Austria, well, I'll have more on that one before too long, too.

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that things go very, very badly for the Covidistan régime (nice name!) in Austria. Over here in CZ, the media seems to have toned down a little bit about mandatory gene therapy, after testing the waters for about a week. It's not clear why they've calmed down over the past few days: maybe it's because TPTB have decided such mandates are unfeasible (at least for the time being), or maybe there are simply too many other things to talk about (this Omicron variant that they just discovered/named, the Czech President testing positive for the virus and the way this impacts the naming of the new Prime Minister, etc. etc.). Anyway, it would be very, very helpful if things went very, very badly for the mandates in Austria. Keeping my fingers crossed for December 4!

Hi Irena,

we share these sentiments, that is obvious. While I don't know as to why gov'ts have somewhat dialled back their propaganda, my best "guess" is: it doesn't work, plain and simple.

If you go, e.g., to https://info.gesundheitsministerium.gv.at/, you can see that "first jabs" rarely exceeded 10,000 per day. It would appear that the majority of the 30-odd percent of Austrians who haven't taken the "vaccine" so far will continue to refrain from doing so.

I'll do a more thorough updating on these issues tomorrow or on Wednesday (I've got some work-related stuff coming up later today), but for now I'd think that failure coupled with the extreme brittleness of the régime is to blame.

You write here 30% of Austrians. 30% of Austrians eligible for vaccination?if so that’s a good many people holding out.

I write on other posts too so please forgive me if I sound like a stuck record but a quote occurred to me the other day that might apply here as well:

“The battle of Waterloo was won on the playing fields of Eton”.

A prominent English football commentator said that Fleck of Sheffield United collapsed because of vaccination ( last week). That commentator is Sinclair. An ex England international. Former Southampton and England international Le Tissier says the same thing. He believes that Eriksen, Aguero and Fleck are all vaccine injured( heart). The English press are starting to see this too.

You would have seen that cardiologist on GB news mention vaccine and heart injury last week. GB news is not a YouTube channel. It’s out there and people are watching the football and that deep brain untouched by the incessant propaganda is starting to feel skittish. It knows somethings wrong.

So to wrap this up if another player collapses this season. A big player or a player in a big team it could be an end. I wager too that a player strike against the booster is not impossible.

It’s a losing game. We will win. And Sport might be our best way out.

The revolution will be televised.

And keep going you are doing Important work.

Austria being at mean + 1 stage of the plot, I'm sure "the Régime" is coming to the same conclusions. Oops - didn't beef up the police enough before implementing the police state.

But too late to change that in Austria or anywhere else, which makes your coverage of the asymmetrical contest between the Austrian people and the elite incredibly important - thank you.

Hi Brian,

ineptitude is as good an explainer as any, I agree, and I'm also in agreement with Covidistan as test balloon for other places. One thing to add: the "pressure" on the régime appears to be enormous (not that I have any sympathy for them), hence the rush to implement these "policies": they are running out of time, quickly so (methinks), and the more one rushes, the more mistakes are made.

More soon, and thank you for the kind words of appreciation.

Hi Ryk,

thank you for the kind words of appreciation, I am glad these posts don't just function as a safety valve that helps me vent my own frustration.
