Swiss (and Austrian) Media Interviews Ukrainian Soldiers: 'F*** your Neutrality' is their Answer
Oh, that went well--please read on and let me know what you think…
Today’s brief posting comes in two parts: in the first half, I’ll present you with a translation of a brief ‘poll’ conducted by Swiss tabloid daily 20 Minuten. The second part is its ‘reception’, of sorts, in Austrian tabloid daily Heute.
Translation and emphases mine, as are the bottom lines.
‘Your neutrality, that's a real a******* position!’
20 Minuten asked several soldiers in eastern Ukraine for their opinion on Swiss neutrality.
Switzerland and its neutrality are also a hot-button issue in Ukraine. 20 Minuten reporter Ann Guenter asked soldiers in eastern Ukraine about their opinion of Switzerland. Conclusion: Our humanitarian tradition, which we like to invoke, does not weigh as much in the external perception as we might think in this country.
Infantryman Yevgeny (23): ‘I don't understand you.’
I'm trying to say this decently: I don't understand you. How is it possible that you—unlike the people in Russia—have all the information about this war and yet you close your eyes? [well, I could answer: we don’t have ‘all that information…]
It can't be a question of neutrality—Switzerland readily supplied weapons to the Nazis in the Second World War. And you are still profiting from your banking system and from accounts filled with billions of Russian oligarchs. The millions that Switzerland always puts into humanitarian aid don't help us at all. It doesn't end the war. Weapons and ammunition actually help us.
Maybe the Swiss government is linked to Moscow, I don't know. In that case, these people don't deserve to be in power. Your neutrality, that's a real a******* position.
Azov fighter Yevhen Borovyk (34): ‘You can just turn off the news.’
We really begrudge you that you live in a good, warm world, that you can live in peace.
We understand that all you can do is check the news on Facebook and feel sorry for us. Then you can just turn off the news and be surrounded by comfort, peace, security and abundance. So it is difficult to comprehend that we go through hell every day. We can only put an end to it with your heavy weapons.
Military Instructor Mykhailo Poddubnow (40): ‘You don't win a war with humanitarian aid.’
Fortunately, Switzerland has not experienced war for 200 years. It maintained its neutrality during the world wars and I don't think that will change in the future. Nevertheless, their advanced weapons and quality ammunition would be of vital importance to us. Everyone knows that we depend on them. Because we are fighting the huge army of Russia. We are doing everything we can, but the demand for modern war materiel will not go away. So all I can say is: Switzerland, help us. You can't win a war with humanitarian aid, with all the clothing donations, for example; you need artillery and tanks for that, and that's what it's all about.
I understand that Switzerland is a neutral country. We have to respect that. At the same time, Switzerland must also understand that this war is not only about Ukraine, but that it affects the entire world order. All because of a country that has decided in the 21st century that it can do anything it wants. If no one stops [Russia], global stability will collapse. Only showing strength will help.
Drone instructor Vladlen Ovchar (38): ‘It was too political for Swiss businessmen.’
This war is about global security, which is about to disintegrate—and this will also be felt in Switzerland. I know Zurich and Lausanne from my business trips. Unfortunately, only one friend from Zurich supported the Ukrainian cause, the others did not want to get involved. It was too political for the Swiss business people.
The piece is accompanied by a poll:
39% are ‘completely in agreement with what the soldiers are saying’
29% are ‘in complete disagreement with what is said’
25% can ‘understand both sides’
7% did not offer an opinion.
This was verbatim reproduced in Austrian tabloid Heute, with the exception of the following introductory paragraph:
A reporter in eastern Ukraine asked soldiers about their opinion of Swiss neutrality. They probably think similarly about Austria.
Switzerland and its neutrality are also a topic of discussion in Ukraine. 20 Minuten reporter Ann Guenter asked soldiers in eastern Ukraine about their opinion of Austria's neighbouring country. The result: the humanitarian tradition to which the Swiss like to refer does not weigh as much in the external perception as we might think in this country. A result that can probably also be applied to Austria.
Bottom Lines
So, there you have it: another round of unquestioning agit-prop of the ‘Western Free Press’ in support of the Neonazi Azov troops. Free propaganda for them. Why?
Please see more about this:
In the end, I suppose that, once the tide turns among our ‘Free Press’, this entire thing will be memory-holed. Heck, it’s already well underway:
Keep the receipts.
Swiss (and Austrian) Media Interviews Ukrainian Soldiers: 'F*** your Neutrality' is their Answer
They forgot to mention the side those soldiers are fighting for - those originally from Eastern Ukraine who defend their homeland and families from the never-ending Ukranian shelling and fighting for the basic human right to live in peace and speak their language, or those from the russophobic Bandera-worshipping Western Ukraine who decided to invade and occupy the East of the country while driving its citizens away?
I mean, the request of arrest of Putin by ICC for kidnapping kids from the war theater it's clearly one of the bottom level of international justice and democracy in our miserable western countries.
And the supposed request of arrest of Trump by DOJ of Biden Administrations it's another step into the Neo Nazi world Government. Especially now they exposed that on Jan 6 the "fake" protesters were organized with the support of Police... and FBI of course
I follow this Russian patriot on substack to get an idea of how they perceive all of this. He's quite smart and balanced.
