It's not a tank. It's Flak-panzer designed in the 1960s, used from the mid-1970s, and upgraded until discontinued in 2010. It's very good at it's job too.
I have to wonder why jounalists persist in calling every armoured vehicle a "tank"?
There's a (several) huge difference between a tank and an armoured vehicle.
And the drone is probably an Iranian Shahed, not a russian one.
I don't know, but to me such details seem important and the factoids about it are easy to come by - why won't mainstream journalists bother? To me at least it lowers overall credibility when they are sloppy or negligent in their reporting; it gives off the vibe that the narrative is more important than any hard facts.

"Note that ‘Google’ translated the tank name (Gepard) as ‘cheetah’ (another win for ‘artificial intelligence’, I’d argue)."
Well, here _is_ a win for AI, or what this guy does generally, anyway ;)
(only Germans, of not too old a generation, might appreciate this spoof)
