Covid BS-Peddling Revealed by Legacy Media

A few days ago, I brought to your attention one of Austro-Covidistan’s more notorious ‘science writers’, one Mr. Klaus Taschwer, and his consideration of the recent paper by Ho et al. Here’s what Mr. Taschwer, writing for Der Standard, had to say:
According to a new study, which is only available as a preprint so far (i.e., not yet peer-reviewed), it doesn’t really matter what you chose in terms of vaccine. There seems to be little difference between the original ‘monovalent’ vaccine and the new ‘bivalent’ one for the Omicron variants in terms of antibody production.

That’s all one needs to know about the piss-poor ‘design’ of the study: there’s no control group, i.e., ‘unvaccinated’ people who got Covid once and are, since then, presumable exposed to whatever form of Sars-Cov-2 on a daily basis. What Ho et al. have been doing is actually checking on the likelihood of another round of breakthrough infections comparing quadruple original juice-recipients with those who took the product ‘tested’ on 8 mice and a couple of millions of humans.

Apart from proposing to roll-out injections, well, virtually the moment new strains are detected and classified (which also means that there’s no way we’ll know how, if at-all, they are actually more dangerous than, say, a common cold)?
I’ll restrict myself to two comments here, in addition to the ones I wrote on 9 Nov. Do keep in mind that the paper had no control group, i.e., all patients received either three or four injections of the ‘original’ formulation or the ‘bivalent’ booster garden varieties.
Here are the two key paragraphs; (my emphasis):
Unlike Omicron, no variant-specific vaccine exists targeting them.
Ho’s study, which has not been published or peer-reviewed, found that patients who received the two initial mRNA vaccines plus a booster had 37- and 55-fold lower immune neutralization against BQ.1 and BQ.1.1 than they did against the strain of the virus they were inoculated against, and 70-fold lower neutralization against XBB and XBB.1. Those with two of the original booster shots fared even worse against BQ.1 and BQ.1.1, and exponentially worse against XBB and XBB.1.
I mean, look at the numbers: 37 to 55-fold lower immune neutralisation. That’s not subtle, and the 70-fold lower neutralisation against the XBB and XBB.1 variants is even less so. Remember, this would be the ‘bivalent’ boosters; those who received the ‘legacy’ product (against the Wuhan strain) ‘fared even worse’—in some cases even exponentially worse’—against these two variants. Hence, why bother? And: will gov’ts, public health officialdom, and legacy media now retract their misinformation?
Second, is there anything in that paper that actually works in favour of these products and, specifically, what has been labelled ‘hybrid immunity’?
People who received the Omicron shot as their second booster did slightly better against all four strains, and individuals who had received the original booster and been infected with the BA.2 variant performed better than any of the other groups against BQ.1 and BQ.1.1 even as they did much worse against XBB and XBB.1. Thus while surviving infection with BA.2, BA.4 and BA.5 appears to give some protection against the BQ-type strains, neither infection nor vaccination offers protection against XBB.
Clearly, as you can see, this is not the case. We’ve known this for quite some time, and I’ll delimit myself to two main take-aways:
On the one hand, we’ve already known, courtesy of the ‘Qatar study’ by Altarawneh et al. (which, unlike Ho et al.’s paper, was peer-reviewed), that, in Dr. Paul Alexander’s words,
vaccine on top of natural exposure infection conferred no additional benefit
The paper by Ho et al. does us at least one favour in this regard: pending peer-review, it all but totally annihilates the widely-peddled notion of vaccine-and-infection-induced ‘hybrid immunity’.
Bottom Lines
If you’re unvaccinated, don’t begin to take these injections.
If you’re vaccinated with any of these products, please stop taking more, specifically these totally useless ‘bivalent’ boosters.
Last, but not least, if you live in ‘the West’, please do the following three things:
read the above-linked paper by Ho et al. and the RT piece;
juxtapose these findings with the BS peddled by legacy media in your country;
please write letters to the editor and spread the word about it.
Thx for your discussion of the Ho et al. paper. I agree with the points you made. It seems this virus continues to mutate successfully, and easily evades all vaccination based immunity. In a chess game, you would start to be concerned about such quick and strong moves of your opponent, and rethink the overall strategy.
