Breaching the Reality Horizon, UC Berkeley Declares its Intellectual Bankruptcy by Introducing Mask Mandates 'if not vaccinated for flu'
If you thought that things wouldn't get stupider than in the past 2.5 years, well, this one's to prove you wrong
Hat-tip to Thomas Oysmüller’s piece over at tkp.at (where I read this first):
UC Berkeley Introduces Mask Mandates—For Those Not Vaccinated Against Influenza
So, there we go: sanity is apparently abolished in California, and it’s extremely telling that this constitutes a horrible precedent whose legality will, hopefully, be challenged in court. I for one would love to see ‘the science’ behind both the flu vaccine and the mask mandate out in public.
You know, while this is of course absolutely insane and should be rejected outright, do take note of two issues that even friend of these pages Thomas Oysmüller overlooked:
On the one hand, this mask mandate ‘if not vaccinated for flu’ is embedded into UC Berkeley’s Coronavirus policies. This means the gradual subsumption of whatever idiotic measure campus leadership wishes to take under the umbrella of ‘fighting Covid’.
This is, of course, logically impossible for, at least last time I checked, Influenza and Sars-Cov-2 are two different kinds of viruses that have quite different risk profiles: the former is basically dangerous for the very young and the very old while the latter is something that everyone under ± 50 will shrug off quite easily (provided they are generally healthy; obesity is a key driver of risk of a severe course of Covid-19). In other words: the student population on campuses is typically the cross-section of society that’s least at risk from the flu.
Facts, however, apparently don’t matter to the supposedly academic-intellectual elites running (US) universities.
The other thing I’d like to point out is that this is an entirely predictable development. I’ve addressed the advent of such policies half a year ago:
I’m not pointing you to my posting from early February to show you that I’ve been correct about this absurdity. I’m pointing you to this posting as these notions, while I’ve exemplarily explored their contexts with respect to Austro-Covidistan, are something that characterise (afflict) the collective west.
And now I’m really sad reading the announcement by UC Berkeley following the idiotic notions espoused by hare-brained self-styled ‘elites’ in Central Europe.
While Austria has long been deemed to be a ‘laboratory of modernity’ by historians and literary scholars, but I had hoped that people would learn from past mistakes.
And now—the papers are rapidly warning of a combined ‘Covid and Influenza Wave’ (e.g., in Bergens Tidende, 29 Aug. 2022).
It is only logical for those ‘elites’ to abuse the Covid mindf****** of the past 2.5 years for virtually anything.
It must seem very confusing for a shia or sunni moslem from any nation where the wearing of som kind of symbol of virtue in the shape of a niqab or other is mandatory for women. Liberal-progressive strongholds such as Baaahrkly (Berkely) has generally been at the forefront when it comes to abolishing such measures, especially if based in religion (other than judaism for some reason) but are now mandating their own version of the veil.
Come to think of it, do moslem women wear their mask under or over the veil?
Further thoughts: since the US apparently has something called religious exemption, how do they rationalise that? Free choice re: masks and other issues you may not have, but just say it's a rule handed down from Casper the friendly ghost and you're off the hook? Where's the freedom in that? Or logic? It's not like sikhs or rastas are given exemptions to certain practices, are they? Or dervishes for that matter.
For some reason, Covidiocy makes me think of organised monolithic religion.
Txs, but yesterday died Gorbachev the last real politician and no one write about him...
Forgot as the promise to not expand Nato toward Russia... Bloody Amerikan traitors!
And in EU we pay the bill for them
