Branch Covidian Advent Calendar, 24 Dec. 2023
Looks like 'the narrative' is falling apart before our eyes…
…that is, if the flurry of legacy media headlines and reports is any indicator:
Translations mine, and they run from left to right; top row:
Die Welt: ‘What to do if dad denies climate change this Christmas?’
Stern: ‘My father is a Covid denier—what shall I do at Christmas?’
Spiegel: ‘This is how to have a discussion with your racist uncle this Christmas’
Bottom row:
ZDF: ‘Conspiracy myths: when Granddad rambles [orig. schwurbelt]’
Stuttgarter Zeitung: ‘What to do if your uncle spreads conspiracy theories?’
Rheinische Post: ‘Family reunions this Christmas: denialisms under the Christmas tree: climate change, asylum policies, war in the Middle East—the news offer plenty of opportunities for discord…what to do if your grandfather, aunt, or second cousin provokes with absurd statements’
Bottom Lines
Given the plethora of ‘trigger warnings’—and the fact that these don’t concern but one issue—virtually all across German legacy media suggests that the power of propaganda is waning.
Not ‘just’ concerning ‘Covid’ but also, among other things, ‘climate change’, the asylum/immigration mess, and the current uptick of atrocities in the Middle East.
I suppose that this is, to a certain extent, a good development.
From earlier this week—merry Christmas, again, and please ‘offend’ your loved ones responsibly ^_^
Thank you for the Advent Calendar which I have looked forward to each day and have hugely enjoyed. Your Substack is a must read for me not only for the information you provide but also the humour which has provided me with many laugh out loud moments in the past year. I wish you and all readers of this blog a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year and remember don't stay safe, stay free.
Noteworthy is of course that it is the older man that is the enemy: Papa, Onkel, Opa.
Freud would have a field-day with this.
