Armchair Travels to the Empire State of Yesteryear
What (parts of) New York State and City looked like before WW2
Without prejudice to readers from elsewhere, here are a few postcards from the Empire State before WW2. This first instalment brings a few images from the Niagara Falls while parts two and three will show old NYC (before the ‘Big Apple’ became a thing).
Mandarin Reader(s) Needed
Speaking about ‘readers from elsewhere’: I found a bunch of postcards—rather: photographs—from the 1960s (I think) mainland China, but I’d need some help reading Mandarin descriptions. If you know Chinese and/or could put me into contact with someone who’s able to help me out, I’d appreciate an email (just reply to my Substack message). Thank you very much.

Enjoy, if you will, and stay tuned for NYC.
I’ve never been to New York but a couple of my kids have. The falls are beautiful. Thank you
Love it!! Thanks for sharing.
