April Fool's Day: Gov't Of, By, and For the People is a Joke, as Officials in Austria, Germany State
While only a few 1,000s of people getting jabbed each day, Berlin and Vienna hold contracts for 42m and 111m doses as storage capacity far exceeds willing recipients
Sadly, this isn’t an April Fool’s posting.
As reported by alternative media outlet eXXpress,
75% of Austrians had been vaccinated [twice] against Covid by the end of 2021. Nevertheless, the government wanted to buy another 42 million vaccine doses for the following two years to fight the Covid pandemic. That is more than four vaccine doses per person! Price tag: 841.8m Euros.
So far, jab uptake is down to ‘only 1,000 doses per day’ (which is good, but I do wonder about the mental state of these people). Note that eXXpress isn’t making this up, for the referred-to information is still available—on the website of the Austrian parliament. Dating from late June 2021—when, I repeat, 75% of Austrians had received two jabs—42m doses (at 20 Euros per jab)—were ordered.
And, as eXXpress also pointed out, this was at a time when there were about 19m unused doses already in storage that no-one wanted.
Over in Tweetlandia, this was pointed out by the ‘Greens Against Jab Mandates and Covid Passports’, a small dissenting faction of the gov’t’s wayward junior partner:
For 2022 and 2023, i.e., when we had excess doses available, the gov’t ordered another 42m jabs at 20€ each.
More than 4 (!) more jabs for everyone from age 0 to seniors.
What were you thinking?
If at night of Germany I think…
The situation isn’t better in neighbouring Germany, as the same ‘Greens Against Jab Mandates and Covid Passports’ point out in a subsequent tweet:
The situation is no better in Germany. The gov’t is spending out tax money without thinking about it. ‘Economically sound and considerate action’, the law reads. Perhaps the paper it is printed on is too patient…
As the attached press release reads (my emphases):
As of the end of February, according to official data from the Ministry of Health, the Federal Gov’t has 116m doses in storage. The delivery of another 111m doses to the tune of 2.5b Euros is planned. As per the EU-negotiated contracts, Germany is obliged to receive these doses, the Health Ministry responded to an enquiry of the [Alternative für Deutschland]. As of right now, according to the Health Ministry’s vaccination dashboard, around 2,000 people get vaccinated every day…’Given current developments, the Federal Gov’t is pushing for the flexibilisation of the EU contracts.’
Bottom Lines
At first, I thought—look, it’s only 1,000 people who get jabbed per day in Austria.
Then I read the numbers for Germany: 2,000 people per day.
Then I did some math: Austria has about 9m inhabitants, Germany has 83, i.e., a difference of the factor of approx. 9. If Austrians were as reluctant as their German neighbours, there’s be some 220-225 people receiving these injections per day. Yet, there are around 1,000. What the heck is wrong with them?
The same goes for the stored and to-be shipped doses: Austria ordered 42m, Germany 111m. What is wrong with these politicians and public health officials?
The saddest thing, though, is this: in the Gettysburgh Address, Abraham Lincoln famously said this:
Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.
Looking back at the Covid mania of the past three years in ‘the West’, that kind of government has.
There’s only a limited amount of runway left to turn this around in a quite peaceful way, I’d argue: indictments, not vs. Trump, but against the Covid Traitors, followed by Special Tribunals, and Truth and Reconciliation Commissions.
The alternative is best summarised by a statement by Thomas Jefferson:
What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. It is its natural manure.

Governments will argue their initially excessive advance orders were due to hedging their bets with different manufacturers but as time progressed and the mass vaccination campaigns started this argument becomes untenable.
Particularly egregious (IMHO) were the previous German Government's rushed orders in the week before the general elections in autumn 2021 when the need and demand for booster doses was highly questionable.
